With manual therapy, a physiotherapist will use controlled movements to help loosen tissue and joints that have become restricted, limiting your ability to move the joints on their own. This type of movement therapy allows the patient to be in control. In some cases, a quicker and more forceful movement, known as manipulation, can be used to help push past certain limits.
The use of manual resistance, guidance, and assistance is another technique that can be used to help loosen joints that are swollen, scars and scar tissue, and any type of thickened swelling that has occurred after an injury.
This type of physiotherapy can be used for those with neurological, orthopedic, and rheumatological issues, such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. A shallow pool is used with water that is close to a person's body heat. The exercises performed in hydrotherapy allow the muscles and joints to move without additional stress. Its a good option for those who are physically weak and are unable to exercise properly.

Alongside the physical aspects of physiotherapy, you are also given advice on different techniques to try at home, between your sessions, as well as being educated on the right way to move, lift, and manage your pain.
